What is Team LC?

Team LC is made up of a group of Personal Care Assistants (PCAs), Skilled Healthcare Providers (SHPs), Interns, and Volunteers who act as Lauren's hands and feet as she lives, works, and studies between Madison and Jackson, MS. Lauren depends on these individuals and her family for everything. Since the quality and presence of caregivers directly affects her quality of life, it is important to have dedicated, conscientious, efficient, dependable, and personable individuals to work with Lauren. The blessing and reward are great when people of this caliber are on the team.

How is Team LC Paid?

The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state run organization of which Lauren is a client. It is through MDRS that her staff is paid $10.50 per hour. Lauren compensates an additional $4.75 an hour, making the total salary $15.25 per hour. Internships are unpaid positions.

Benefits

Housing: Team LC staff who work a minimum of 30 hours per week can request a room at the Compere home. Rent is $250 per month.

MDRS Health Insurance: MDRS provides health insurance to certain employees based on number of hours worked.

The following list of tasks is not exhaustive. These and other tasks may be required as determined by needs and circumstances.

Personal Care

Domestic

  • Changing linens

Health Oriented

  • Assisting with bathroom needs, feminine hygiene

Night Shift Distinctions

While all members of Team LC are there to assist with Lauren’s care and share many of the above duties, there are some tasks which cannot be completed at night. Differences that a team member would notice if working the night shift are noted below. This list may not be exclusive or exhaustive. As above, specific tasks will be determined by needs and circumstances.

Personal Care

Lauren will need assistance getting to bed or getting up, including bathrooming and basic hygiene. Transfers will be integral during the night shift. The van will only be driven in case of emergency.

Domestic

If circumstances allow, night-shift employees may complete domestic tasks which do not disturb Lauren’s sleep. Examples include cleaning, cooking, organizing, removing trash, and generally straightening up.

Clerical

If circumstances allow, night staff may be expected to organize and plan similar to daytime staff.

Health-Oriented

Since Lauren should be asleep during this shift, the only health-focused tasks which should generally take place during this shift are applying Lauren’s nighttime medical devices, responding to emergencies, caring for the urinary diversion system, and maintaining Lauren’s devices or equipment.

Lauren’s Projects & Special Roles

Please thoroughly review the following descriptions of each of Lauren’s work projects, personal projects, and important portions of her life. You will be asked on the application if you are interested in working on/managing any of the projects/portions listed below in addition to caring for Lauren and, if so, which one(s). 

For those applying for a PCA or SHP position: *MDRS does not pay for project management. Still, it is important for Lauren’s life. Disinterest in working on/managing any of the projects will not be noted as a flaw, but Lauren will hire the candidates she believes will best contribute to her life and team. You are not guaranteed to be assigned to the project(s) you are most interested in. Circumstances will arise in which Lauren needs assistance doing the following:*

One Shred of Hope

Lauren is one of the founding members of a Christian, nonprofit ministry in Clinton, Mississippi for families touched by special needs. The organization strives to create jobs and accessible, affordable, integrated housing communities.

  • Manage email correspondence

  • Write and send thank you letters

  • Update donor spreadsheet

  • Manage materials & get more as needed

  • Research

  • Schedule, plan, & facilitate events/meetings

  • Post on social media


Public Relations Director

Executing Lauren’s stylistic vision in developing and maintaining her personal brand and the brand of Team LC. This includes the following tasks:

  • Website design and maintenance

  • Social media management: helping Lauren maintain a consistent, meaningful presence on her preferred social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)

  • Engaging with the public on Lauren’s behalf (this may look like communicating with organizations requesting Lauren as a speaker or wanting to interview her)

  • Creating and executing a social media schedule (this includes text posts, videos, images, and blogs)

  • Providing training materials for Lauren or other team members to maintain all of the above should the team not have a PR Director

  • Conducting tasks that will boost the visibility of the Team LC site (SEO) & presenting automated resources to Lauren for future use.

Content Manager

Lauren is developing an online course and other resources for families affected by disabilities. As it relates to the development of Lauren’s online course, tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducting and presenting thorough research to Lauren regarding writing style, target audience, potential competition, marketing resources, lesson topics, presentation of materials, product advertising and pricing, etc…

  • Managing the assigning and execution of supporting tasks by other Team LC members

  • Reviewing and editing course content authored by Lauren and authoring sections upon her request

  • Going through every Digital Course Secrets (DCS) phase with Lauren until online course is launched. Including but not limited to the following:

    • Develop new social media accounts for Online Course and post

    • Research the best technology/applications, set them up, and implement them in the Online Course (Including but not limited to: sales funnel, accepting credit cards, tracking, Lauren’s LLC creation, etc.)

    • Providing training materials for Lauren or other team members to maintain course should the team not have a PR Director (after initial course completion)

    • Network, consult with, and reach out to individuals/prospects

    • Edit YouTube videos

    • Assist with/manage Split Testing

    • Design all materials Lauren creates

    • Develop and implement automated systems/technologies



Team LC Recruitment

The goal is for Lauren to stay fully staffed and have on-call staff so that she can live independently.

  • Manage email and correspondence

  • Manage marketing materials, update, & order more as needed

  • Post on social media & in social media groups

  • Create working relationships between Team LC and organizations, schools, businesses, and groups in which there are individuals that are candidates for Team LC

  • Update and maintain Team LC Handshake Profile and all other accounts, including postings on school websites

  • Look for Career Fairs/Career Events & sign up Team LC to attend (Lauren’s approval prior to event sign-up required)

  • Update and maintain Recruitment Spreadsheet/system

  • Represent Lauren & Team LC at career related meetings and Career Fairs (Lauren’s approval prior to event sign-up required)


Medical

The goal is for Lauren to discover what causes her disability and be as healthy as possible.

  • Manage medical records, including requesting, organizing, and sending records

  • Manage correspondence, including MyChart

  • Complete to-do items after Lauren’s doctor appointments

  • Sign Lauren up for medical/disability related events (ex. RareGenes, Lauren’s approval prior to event sign-up required if there is a cost)

  • Manage postings & communication on the various undiagnosed platforms of which she is a member

  • Research, share findings, & implement

  • Quickly become knowledgeable regarding Lauren’s medical history, progress, & doctors
